Summer is a time for fun, relaxation, and new experiences. But as a parent, you might be wondering how to make the most of it for your teenager. Do you want them to reinvent their physical health and make new friends at summer camps? Or are they stuck at home, addicted to screens? We’re here to help!

The Best Summer Ever: Physical Health and New Friends For Your Teenager

Summer camps are a great way for teenagers to stay active and make new friends. Whether it’s sports camps, adventure camps, or art camps, there’s something out there for every interest. These camps help teens:

Stay Active: Participating in activities like hiking, swimming, and sports keeps them physically fit.

Build Friendships: Meeting new people and making friends can boost their social skills and confidence.

Learn New Skills: Camps often offer opportunities to learn new hobbies or improve existing ones.

Encouraging your teen to join a summer camp can lead to a healthy, fun, and fulfilling summer.

The Screen Time Dilemma For Your Teenager

On the other hand, many teenagers spend their summer glued to screens. While some screen time is okay, too much can be harmful. It can lead to:

Lack of Physical Activity: Sitting in front of a screen all day can negatively impact their health.

Social Isolation: Too much time online can reduce face-to-face interactions with friends and family.

Sleep Problems: Excessive screen time, especially before bed, can interfere with their sleep patterns.

How We Can Help Your Teenager

Our teen therapy specialists at the Neurodiversity Center of Katy are here to make this summer unforgettable for your teenager. We can help by:

Creating a Balanced Schedule: We work with your teen to create a daily routine that includes time for physical activity, socializing, and relaxation.

I'm Quique (say it like "key+kay"), the f and lead therapist at The Neurodiversity Center of Katy. Working with neurodivergent individuals is my passion. My clients often tell me that they find it easy to relate to me and appreciate my blend of expertise and down-to-earth advice.

For over two decades, I've dedicated my career to supporting neurodivergent individuals. My journey began in youth ministry, transitioned into teaching at a high school tailored for neurodiverse students, and ultimately led me to therapy.

My personal encounter with psychological challenges deeply informs my work. Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome in my youth and later grappling with OCD as an adult, my therapeutic journey was transformative. It was through engaging with a skilled therapist that I learned to navigate my challenges productively. This experience was so impactful that it propelled me to support other men facing similar neurodiverse challenges.

I'm known for my vibrant personality and my knack for establishing genuine connections with neurodiverse clients. My therapeutic approach is engaging, focused on solutions, and tailored to meet the individual needs of each client.

Outside of my professional life, I'm a family man, blessed with a loving wife, four children, and two dogs—a pug and a French bulldog. My hobbies include writing, podcasting, exercising, watching TV, and spending quality time with friends.

Feel free to contact me. I would love to know how I can support you on your therapy journey.
